The plan for today is to take some sunrise photos from the Gulf State Park Pier. Then it’s back to the Hampton Inn for some free breakfast. After eating I’ll load the Jeep and get on highway 90 for the return trip to World Headquarters in New Orleans. There may be stops along the way.

One never knows what will happen. After all, it is real life….Sort of. 🙀😳😎😜❤

Orr Park

Orr Park in Montevallo AL is a magical place.

Local artist, Tim Tingle carved fantastical creatures into dead or dying storm damaged Eastern Red Cedars.
There are 30+ carvings along Tinglewood Trail.

If you get the opportunity, it’s definitely worth the trip.  After your stroll you can enjoy a delicious lunch at Eclipse Coffee and Books.   It’s one of my favorite places.  I like their Cappuccinos.

I spent hours wandering the trainyard at The Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in Calera Alabama.  I’ve been here many times and it’s a unique joy to take photographs at the museum. There is always something new to shoot.
I miss seeing the caboose at the end of the train.  A train crossed the road in front of me yesterday.  It’s just not the same with just the light on the last car.  It makes me happy to see places like the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum preserving cabooses for future generations to enjoy.
One of the many cool things here is riding the train. You can purchase tickets to ride in an open car or an enclosed car.   There are also tickets available to ride in the caboose or in the engine.  I think I should take advantage of one or both of those options while I am here.

Happy Valentine’s Day 2017

Here are some pretty flowers 🌺 for your Valentine’s Day enjoyment.

Candy heart photos should go here, but I don’t have any of those today.  No cyber calories today.

On Valentine’s Day, the day about love and things of the heart, I am going to the cardiologist. Since I don’t have a sweetie this seems an appropriate substitute somehow.   I have V’day cards for them. Might as well make it an experience they will remember for a moment.

Seems the thing to do is look back at what happened in 2016.   Here are my nine most liked photos on Instagram.

In some ways these photos summarize the 2016 of my life: the places I’ve visited, the places I’ve stayed, and the things I thought were interesting.

Renewal, a new waterwheel
A holy place
A butterfly
My favorite hat
A lonely, abandoned home
The empty chair on the third floor
Prickly
Scratchy, graffiti, vandalism
The old, Rice barn

And clouds float above it all.

“At a cost of around $3400 each, 1622 of these Type B-1 Houses, with 576 square feet of living space, were built in Oak Ridge between 1943 and 1945 to house some of the 75,000 people working at the plants.” – Paul Mashburn

Chapter 9

An RV Hero arrived in his crimson chariot.  OK OK a red truck

After much looking and testing, he and I agreed to a two pronged attack. Phase one:

Replace the main batteries.

$360 later I’m the proud owner of these beauties.  Not installed yet though.

Today I await the mechanic. He is going to try and start the coach. We will see.

Embracing the change.
Embracing the strange.
Embracing the chaos.
Embracing the paradox.
