Happiness Project 25

It's another fun day to be alive!  Here are some happinesses from my life to yours.

1.  Ollies
Ollies was a lot of fun.  I had never been in one and exploring the merchandise was a grand adventure.  They say the selection changes daily so repeat visits might be fun.
2.  Those days when things just go right
We all have them.  We are in the flow.  We are on top of our game.  Things work out. I love those days.

3.  My toe
I  have been having problems with one of my toes. It started a couple of months ago when the toe swelled up and hurt. I am so happy it is no longer swollen or painful.

Share the joy.  If you want to, tell us something that made you happy this week.

You know the ones, the surprises from strangers.

Every time I find one a huge grin spreads across my face.  Sometimes I even laugh out loud.

2.  A real shower
After a month of showering in the RV it was wonderful to enjoy the luxury of great water pressure, room to turn and move my arms without bumping the shower walls, and lots of hot water.  WOW! 😃

3.  Last Day at The Eclipse
I will not be back before they close.  Actually when you read this they will be closed.   I’m happy to be here one more time.  This is melancholy happiness but happiness all the same.

Happy Happy
Joy Joy
Another happy blog.

1.  Babies
I almost had a wonderful weekend with my <1 year old grandson.   Talk about fun.  All that beginner’s mind, curiosity, unconditional love, unbridled joy, and newness is awesome.  I can’t help but happy being with someone so fresh from “what is not this”. Maybe I’ll get another opportunity.
2.  OD – The Order of Disorder
It doesn’t get much more Zen than this.  I want to be a boobiesattva.
3.  Answer change
I am usually carrying around at least two cameras. As a result I’m often asked, “Are you a photographer?”   I’m much happier now that I answer “yes”.   That doesn’t mean I’m a good photographer, but I do travel around taking photos on an almost daily basis.  That is one of my primary creative activities.

Positivity Week: Day 5

My friend Cherokeewriter has been doing Positivity Week for several years. I try to participate each year.

Day 5: Positivity in Paintings
Like writing, art can can stir emotions and that means it can make you feel positive or happy. On this day, share one or more of your favorite paintings.

As some of you know, my daughter, Starr, is an accomplished artist working out of Oak Ridge TN. As a result, my life is filled with wonderful paintings and other pieces of her art.

Once upon a time my son, Starr, and I were eating in an out of the way restaurant in Gatlingburg TN. Hanging over the table was a painting we called the groper fish. Sometime later, Starr gifted me her interpretation of that. I love it.

Day 7: Those Who Are No Longer With Us

This last day is to remember someone (person or even an animal), that in some way had a positive impact on you. It can be more than one person and not even someone you were very close to or knew very long. As long as they somehow had a positive impact on you, share it here.

Once upon a time there was a man who loved dreaming, adventuring, and tinkering.  He was always into something.  He built a house almost exclusively from things he found.  He laughed and played a lot.   He taught me what he knew.

Once upon a time there was a man who loved animals. Birds and squirrels would eat out of his hand.  He grew food and cared for the land.  He worked hard without complaining.  He taught me what he knew.

Once upon a time there was man of faith.  His life revolved around the spiritual.  He taught me what he knew.

Once upon a time there was woman who loved me.  She taught to make fried banana pies.  She taught me patience.  She taught me that quality is better than quantity.

Once upon a time there was a woman.    She was so much fun.  She loved music and God.    She taught me to be tender and long suffering.  She taught me that helping others is helping myself.

Once upon a time there was a woman.  She gave me life.  She kept me alive.  She taught me the value of family.

These are parents and grandparents.   I realize they were more than my memories.    These six people had a great and lasting influence on my life.

Day 6 of Positivity Week:  Something Funny

Share what makes you laugh. And I mean, really laugh to the point where your face hurts, your stomach hurts and you’re crying. There is nothing better than a good laugh.

So many things make me laugh.

Some people accuse me of laughing at inappropriate times.  hehehe    It’s going to be hard to narrow this down.

After a bit of thought, I think I can narrow things down.

Everything I was going to list all goes back to one thing.

People make me laugh. I’m not laughing at us individually.  It’s just us….

It’s what we do and say.  Our inventions, antics, writing, laughter, well, just everything and anything can induce laughter.

I laugh at myself the most.   The silly things I do crack me up.

I have learned it’s better if you don’t laugh in serious meetings and at funerals.   Oh yes, it’s better not to laugh while you boss is chewing you out.

HAHAHAHAHA!

Day 5 of Positivity Week:  Your Impact

What positive impact (or impacts) do you hope to leave behind when you go? Do you hope what positive impacts you leave behind will change the world for the better?

I’ve thought about this a lot today.  I’ve thought about it several times in my life, most recently a few months ago.  I always come up empty.  I don’t think the current life I’m living will have any lasting impact on the world.   Those who are close to me will remember me when I am gone.  When they are gone it will be forgotten that jr cline ever existed.  That is how it’s been for thousands of years.  Millions, billions have been forgotten.  I see no reason why my brief walk across life’s stage should be remembered.

Don’t get me wrong.  This isn’t depressing.  Doesn’t bother me one bit.  I hope it doesn’t bother you.

If the above is wrong, I hope that any impact my existence has is positive.  Of course whether it is positive or not is really in the eye of the beholder.

Churchill had it right when he said, “History is written by the victors.”

Day 4 of Positivity Week:  Best of 2013

What is some of the best times you’ve had this year? What are some of your happiest moments of 2013? Feel free to post pictures on this day if you have any and you can share more than one thing.

I’ve had a lot of good times this year.   You’ve seen pictures from many of them: New Orleans, Oak Ridge, Memphis, Nashville, Gulf Shores, and Fairhope.   Of course life closer to the house is filled with great times too.

Day 3 of Positivity Week:  A Step Into The Past

This day we will visit the past for a little bit and find something positive. It can be an event such as a concert, going on a trip, spending the day with someone you love, someone (famous or someone you know) that was a positive influence on you as a child.

When we were young.
There were some great times.

I’ll get to look back a lot in preparation for RV living. I have a lot of pictures to scan and store.  I won’t be keeping the prints.

I’m disappointed with the quality of this scan.  I’ll try some others. I think it is the print and not the scanner though.

Positivity Week, Day 2:  Looking To The Future

Focusing too much on the past or future is never a good thing. However, it is good to visualize what you want in life, what you want to achieve, something you want to happen even if it is just a simple vacation. For this day, let’s look to the future for a few minutes and share what good, positive things we want in the future.

It can be achieving your dream, buying a new house at a good price or even something you are really looking forward to next year. ~ Eden

The reason I created  Crackingmyegg was to chronicle my journey from a 35 hour a week  regular job working, living in a big house with a mortgage, two cars (at had four at one point during all this), do the same thing day in day out, rut living kind of guy, into a full time RVer.  An update on that evil plan fits right in with Eden’s second prompt.

377ish days ago I launched the 500 Days Project.  With 123 days left to go in that project I’m not sure I’m on track to succeed.   I’ve done a lot.  Most my ‘things’ are gone. Some that aren’t gone are spoken  for and will go when the time comes.   I still have a house.  Want to buy a beautiful home in rural Alabama?

It’s 200 days until ‘Drive Away Day’.   When I sell the house, I’ll use that money to purchase either a Class A or Class C motor-home, something in the 27’ to 30’ range with at least one slide.  I’m looking at used with 30,000 or fewer miles and a gas engine.  I’ve actually looked at a lot of motor-homes and I have learned quite a bit about them.
Here are a few:
500 Days: Progress Report 11.23.12
462 days to go

I’m fixing everything I can fix on my jeep.  It will be the towed vehicle.  I’m thinking about putting it on a trailer.  I’ll sell my pickup truck.  I’m using it as my primary vehicle right now to keep miles off the jeep.

I’ve set up one income stream and I am working on setting up another.  I’m working on getting online billing and banking running smoothly.  Snail mail is still a problem.  I have to address that.   I also have to figure out how to deal with my routine medical/dental care and BP meds on the road.

The yard is a mess but it’s better.  I need to do a little paining inside the house and a through cleaning is definitely in order.

All in all, I really do think I’ll make it one time and on budget!
