Happiness Project 41

Happy in the month of thanksgiving.

1.  MBWR

Magnolia Branch Wildlife Refuge is a hidden gem in Central Alabama. We have have a large campsite. The (boathouse)* bathhouse is adequate. There are great bike riding spaces, a nice lake, a river, and we have cell service. It’s a bit remote which is great.

2.  A travel companion

I’ve enjoyed having a traveling companion for the last few weeks. It always seems like more fun sharing the adventure.

3.  New Front Curtains

Share your joy. Tell us something that made you happy this week.

Happiness Project 24

It’s another fun day to be alive!  Here are some happinesses from my life to yours.

1.  Painted Rocks
You know the ones, the surprises from strangers.

Every time I find one a huge grin spreads across my face.  Sometimes I even laugh out loud.

2.  A real shower
After a month of showering in the RV it was wonderful to enjoy the luxury of great water pressure, room to turn and move my arms without bumping the shower walls, and lots of hot water.  WOW! 😃

3.  Last Day at The Eclipse
I will not be back before they close.  Actually when you read this they will be closed.   I’m happy to be here one more time.  This is melancholy happiness but happiness all the same.

Share the joy.  If you want to, tell us something that made you happy this week.

Positivity Week, Day 7

Day 7: Those Who Are No Longer With Us

This last day is to remember someone (person or even an animal), that in some way had a positive impact on you. It can be more than one person and not even someone you were very close to or knew very long. As long as they somehow had a positive impact on you, share it here.

Once upon a time there was a man who loved dreaming, adventuring, and tinkering.  He was always into something.  He built a house almost exclusively from things he found.  He laughed and played a lot.   He taught me what he knew.

Once upon a time there was a man who loved animals. Birds and squirrels would eat out of his hand.  He grew food and cared for the land.  He worked hard without complaining.  He taught me what he knew.

Once upon a time there was man of faith.  His life revolved around the spiritual.  He taught me what he knew.

Once upon a time there was woman who loved me.  She taught to make fried banana pies.  She taught me patience.  She taught me that quality is better than quantity.

Once upon a time there was a woman.    She was so much fun.  She loved music and God.    She taught me to be tender and long suffering.  She taught me that helping others is helping myself.

Once upon a time there was a woman.  She gave me life.  She kept me alive.  She taught me the value of family.

These are parents and grandparents.   I realize they were more than my memories.    These six people had a great and lasting influence on my life.

Positivity Week, Day 5

Day 5 of Positivity Week:  Your Impact

What positive impact (or impacts) do you hope to leave behind when you go? Do you hope what positive impacts you leave behind will change the world for the better?

I’ve thought about this a lot today.  I’ve thought about it several times in my life, most recently a few months ago.  I always come up empty.  I don’t think the current life I’m living will have any lasting impact on the world.   Those who are close to me will remember me when I am gone.  When they are gone it will be forgotten that jr cline ever existed.  That is how it’s been for thousands of years.  Millions, billions have been forgotten.  I see no reason why my brief walk across life’s stage should be remembered.

Don’t get me wrong.  This isn’t depressing.  Doesn’t bother me one bit.  I hope it doesn’t bother you.

If the above is wrong, I hope that any impact my existence has is positive.  Of course whether it is positive or not is really in the eye of the beholder.

Churchill had it right when he said, “History is written by the victors.”

Positivity Week, Day 4

Day 4 of Positivity Week:  Best of 2013

What is some of the best times you’ve had this year? What are some of your happiest moments of 2013? Feel free to post pictures on this day if you have any and you can share more than one thing.

I’ve had a lot of good times this year.   You’ve seen pictures from many of them: New Orleans, Oak Ridge, Memphis, Nashville, Gulf Shores, and Fairhope.   Of course life closer to the house is filled with great times too.
